LILA, the Italian League for the Fight against AIDS
is a federation of associations and groups
of volunteers, founded in 1987. Both people
who are infected by HIV and those who are not,
work together in LILA to fight AIDS.
There are many local regional centres spread
throughout Italy.
The main areas the organization is focusing
on are prevention of AIDS, therapies, damage
reduction, prostitution, jail, and respecting
the rights of the individual. In other words,
the development of social and health policies.
LILA promotes and defends the right to health
and is committed to state principles and solidarity.
It fights against every form of violation of human,
civil and citizenship rights of the HIV or AIDS
infected people and also promotes human
and social integration tools.
LILA collaborates with other European
and Italian NGOs and with the main national
institutions.
LILA, since its birth, has chosen not to demand
or accept contributions from pharmaceutical
companies.
