An Alliance Graphique International (AGI) member
since 1974. The same year he started a long career
as a professor of visual communication first at the
University of Kassel and then at the HfG Karlsruhe.
Throughout his career, he produced numerous photo
books and outstanding posters while working
at the studios he co-founded: Rambow + Lienemeyer
and Rambow van de Sand. Since his retirement
he manages a gallery located in the former palace
of the Count of Lühe in his home town of Güstrow.
Some acknowledgments of his work include the 1980
Warsaw International Poster Biennial Gold Medal;
the 1982 Brno Graphic Design Biennial Gold Medal;
the 1985 Lahti Poster Biennial Grand Prix, Finland;
the 1990 and 1999 Chaumont Poster Biennial Gold
Medal, France; the 1996 and 1998 Golden Bee Award
at the Moscow International Graphic Design Biennial.
Mr. Rambow has had solo exhibitions in prestigious
institutions such as the Bibliothèque Nationale, Paris,
the Akademie der Künste of the former East Berlin
and the Shanghai Art Museum.
